Its jacketed nose incorporates an open cavity for defensive use rather than the non-expanding round-nose design of ordinary FMJ practice ammunition.

PMC publishes a 900-fps muzzle velocity for this particular 185-grain load. Bullet mass and nose geometry affect different aspects of cartridge design: the lighter weight identifies one factory configuration, while the cavity is intended to initiate deformation under suitable impact conditions. Neither characteristic by itself establishes how the bullet will perform in a specific test medium.

A 45 ACP pistol that functions with round-nose practice cartridges still deserves evaluation with the actual hollow-point profile, particularly through the magazines intended for defensive use. PMC supplies 50 brass-cased rounds of this ammo per box for familiarization with the 185-grain JHP. That makes it possible to assess feeding and sight regulation using the intended projectile rather than a substitute trainer.

PMC Bronze Key Features

185-Grain Bullet Weight: The projectile is 45 grains lighter than a conventional 230-grain 45 ACP ball bullet.

Jacketed Hollow Point: An open cavity in the jacketed nose is intended to promote deformation under suitable impact conditions.

900-fps Muzzle Rating: PMC lists a factory velocity of 900 fps for 45B.

https://www.sportingsupplygroup.com/products/pmc-bronze-45-acp-185-grain-jacketed-hollow-point-jhp-45b-50-rounds
