Winchester Defender 9mm 147 grain bonded jacketed hollow point S9MMPDB2 ammo combines a 147-grain bonded jacketed hollow point with a +P pressure designation for 9mm pistols. The heavy bullet makes this a distinct Defender version from the standard-pressure 147-grain loading. Higher-pressure cartridges requires a handgun approved for that designation.

Winchester's Defender bonding process joins the projectile's jacket and lead core to resist separation as the nose deforms. For this +P ammunition, the published 1,030-fps speed is specific to S9MMPDB2. It should not be substituted for the 1,000-fps figure associated with the separately numbered standard-pressure 147-grain product.

Bullet weight alone cannot tell a shooter whether a 9mm load is ordinary-pressure or +P, and the box identification therefore matters.
