Federal American Eagle 5.7x28 40gr FMJ AE5728A Overview

Federal American Eagle 5.7x28 40 grain full metal jacket AE5728A ammo uses a lightweight 40-grain bullet in the distinctive 5.7x28 chambering. The cartridge's small diameter and overall shape set it apart from conventional straight-wall service-pistol cartridges, making exact caliber identification especially important.

The FMJ projectile is intended for practice, not controlled expansion. Federal lists the ammunition at 1,655 fps, but that speed cannot predict point of impact in every 5.7x28 firearm. Buyers should recognize the actual cartridge designation rather than confuse it with 22-caliber rimfire rounds or assume it fits another small-bore platform.

For 5.7x28 owners, this ammo offers a specified 40-grain FMJ option to evaluate in the firearm they already use. The 50-round brass-cased package suits target work with properly chambered handguns.

Federal American Eagle 5.7x28 Key Features

  • 5.7x28 Chambering: This is the dedicated centerfire 5.7x28 cartridge, not a 22-caliber rimfire round.
  • 40-Grain FMJ: A lightweight jacketed, non-expanding projectile is used for range training.
  • Published Muzzle Speed: Federal lists 1,655 fps for this load.
