Hornady Custom 454 Casull 300gr JHP 9150 Overview
Hornady Custom 454 Casull 300 grain jacketed hollow point 9150 ammo features a substantial XTP hunting projectile in the 454 Casull chambering. Its 300-grain weight marks a distinct choice from the lighter 240-grain Custom load, while retaining a jacketed nose engineered for expansion.
Rather than relying on a cast solid, this cartridge uses XTP’s drawn jacket and nose cuts. Hornady rates the ammunition at 1,650 fps, a different velocity and bullet-mass pairing from 9148. The design explains the intended bullet behavior, but it does not establish recovered diameter or penetration through a particular target medium.
Heavy-bullet Casull use makes sight regulation and firearm suitability especially important to assess with the exact loading. The 20-round package contains this ammo for range confirmation before field use. A revolver that groups well with 240-grain bullets should not be assumed to place this 300-grain XTP at the same point.
