Remington Subsonic 45 ACP 230gr FNEB 28428 Overview

Remington Subsonic 45 ACP 230 grain flat nose enclosed base 28428 ammo uses a heavyweight target bullet with a truncated nose and an enclosed lead base. Its 830-fps factory rating places this configuration in a subsonic velocity class without relying on a hollow-point defensive bullet.

Enclosing the base of the bullet reduces the amount of lead exposed at the rear, making its construction different from a conventional open-base full metal jacket. The familiar 230-grain 45 ACP weight is compatible with a wide range of practice objectives, but published subsonic speed does not establish noise level or function in a particular suppressed handgun. The cartridge remains a range load.

The value of the FNEB projectile is its specified surface construction and non-expanding nose, not a claim of terminal performance. Remington supplies 50 brass-cased rounds of this ammo. Shooters considering the cartridge for suppressed use should confirm that their firearm, ammunition and suppressor combination functions as intended.

Remington Subsonic Key Features

  • 230-Grain Flat Nose: The 45 ACP practice projectile has a truncated rather than round nose.
  • Enclosed Base: The bullet jacket is designed to cover its rear lead surface.
  • 830-fps Subsonic Rating: Remington lists 830 fps as the factory muzzle velocity.
