Hornady Custom 454 Casull 240gr JHP 9148 Overview

Hornady Custom 454 Casull 240 grain jacketed hollow point 9148 ammo pairs a relatively light XTP bullet with the high-capacity 454 Casull revolver cartridge. Its jacketed hunting projectile has a protected hollow-point cavity instead of the solid nose found on cast field bullets.

A 240-grain projectile at Hornady’s listed 1,900 fps represents a different 454 Casull configuration from the brand’s heavier 300-grain XTP load. The bullet’s serrated nose is engineered for deformation, while firearm and barrel-length differences remain relevant to actual results. This ammunition should be evaluated as its own combination of projectile and charge.

In a revolver sighted with heavy hunting bullets, switching to the lighter 240-grain XTP may change impact location. A 20-round box of this ammo lets the shooter establish a reference with the actual 9148 cartridge. The two Custom Casull offerings should not be treated as interchangeable solely because they share a chambering.

Hornady Custom Key Features
