Federal Syntech Training Match 45 ACP 230 grain syntech jacket flat nose AE45SJ2 ammo uses a coated, non-expanding practice projectile developed as a counterpart to Federal's 230-grain HST. The Total Synthetic Jacket covers the bullet rather than using an ordinary exposed metallic jacket surface. At 230 grains, the trainer preserves the nominal bullet weight of the defensive load it is intended to accompany.
Training Match is designed to approximate the corresponding HST cartridge's trajectory and point of impact while using a different projectile for everyday practice. Federal lists 890 fps for this ammunition, matching the published rating of the relevant standard-pressure 230-grain HST. The synthetic coating also helps reduce metal fouling in the bore.
