Winchester USA White Box 38 Special 125gr JSP USA38SP Overview

Winchester USA White Box 38 Special 125 grain jacketed soft point USA38SP ammo gives revolver owners a lighter defensive soft-point option in the long-established 38 Special cartridge. The bullet has a metal jacket around its body and a lead tip left exposed at the nose. Unlike a round-nose full metal jacket, that exposed tip is intended to deform under suitable impact conditions.

Soft points do not have the recessed cavities found in jacketed hollow points, and the two nose shapes can respond differently as impact conditions change. Winchester rates this ammunition at 850 fps, a factory muzzle figure rather than a measured result from every revolver barrel. The speed number alone cannot tell a buyer how the bullet will perform after striking a particular barrier.

Because many 38 Special revolvers have fixed sights, a change in bullet weight may alter where a familiar sight picture places shots. That is worth considering when switching between routine target loads and USA38SP for defensive practice. This brass-cased ammo is manufactured in the United States and comes in 50-round boxes.
