Sellier and Bellot 38 Spl 158gr LRN SB38A Overview

Sellier and Bellot 38 Special 158 grain lead round nose SB38A ammo returns to an established revolver-target projectile: an unjacketed lead bullet with a smoothly rounded nose. Its construction is different from the jacketed FMJ or sharp-shouldered wadcutter bullets offered in the same chambering.

Lead round-nose bullets retain an uncomplicated profile associated with traditional revolver range practice. Sellier and Bellot lists 997 fps for this ammunition, a distinct factory rating from its 158-grain FMJ SB38P. Although the two projectiles share nominal mass, their surfaces and loadings differ in meaningful ways.

For a revolver owner interested in older-style lead bullets, SB38A is a clear alternative to an ordinary jacketed target cartridge. The ammo is provided in 50-round brass-case boxes. Revolver sight regulation should be assessed with the chosen factory load rather than presumed identical to a wadcutter or FMJ because both may carry a 158-grain label.

Sellier and Bellot Key Features

  • 158-Grain Lead Bullet: The traditional revolver projectile is unjacketed.
  • Round-Nose Profile: A curved nose distinguishes this bullet from flat-front wadcutters and jacketed flat points.
  • Factory Muzzle Velocity: Sellier and Bellot specifies 997 fps for SB38A.
