Aguila Sniper Subsonic 22 LR 60gr LSP 1B220112 Overview
Aguila Sniper Subsonic 22 LR 60 grain lead solid point 1B220112 ammo is unusual for its heavy, elongated lead bullet, which gives the cartridge a distinctly different balance of projectile mass and speed from familiar 22 LR target ammunition. The specialized design makes barrel twist a significant consideration rather than an afterthought.
At a published 950 fps, Sniper Subsonic relies on bullet mass instead of high muzzle speed; an independent Australian Shooter test found that a 1:16-twist rifle produced keyholing while a 1:14-twist rifle stabilized the long LSP projectile. Available in a 50-round box, this cartridge deserves attention to the individual rifle's rifling twist before bulk use.
Aguila Sniper Subsonic 22 LR Key Features
- Heavy Lead Solid Point: The 60-grain projectile is unusually heavy for 22 LR.
- Rifling-Twist Sensitivity: Independent testing found different stabilization results in 1:16- and 1:14-twist rifles.
- Subsonic Ballistics: Aguila specifies a 950 fps muzzle velocity.
